How does one design and realise complex building projects innovatively?
We hold the key to success.
Ensuring complex requirements can be understood.
Ensuring complex projects can be planned.
Ensuring complex structures can be built.
This is what we understand as successful consulting, planning, and managing and that is why our clients from various sectors have appreciated our services for more than 50 years.
To achieve this, we have positioned ourselves specifically to offer a high level of professional competence; which, if needed, can be combined with our holistic approach in interdisciplinary cooperation quickly and oriented to the task. This is how we maximize success and thus achieve the best possible results in complex construction projects.
Wherever it takes us – we keep your needs in mind
Although we cover a wide range of projects and services, all our public and private sector clients are united in one goal: to create an innovative and sustainable project, which is completed within the time and cost constraints. Through focused expertise and multidisciplinary teamwork within our four business divisions, we accompany our clients all along the way.
When it’s high value that counts
The healthcare sector is a growing market with high potential. A considerable portion of the Gross Domestic Product is generated in this sector. Despite its many positive attributes, there is enormous pressure to effectively manage costs and to attempt to maximize efficiency. This pushes us to never lose sight of the three main factors that lead to success within the healthcare sector: high-quality medicine, research and education, and profitability.
Healthcare has always been a focal point in HWP. Many of our projects include highly specialized laboratories as well as research facilities for city hospitals. We have provided our expertise in the planning and development stages for numerous projects in Germany and worldwide.
HWP is known for its interdisciplinary cooperation between Architects, Engineers, Economists, Physicians, Laboratory and Nursing staff, Healthcare economists, Medical Engineers, and Project Managers. This unique collaboration results in holistic and sustainable solutions for our clients. Our healthcare facilities are recognized and praised for meeting the needs of the people for whom they are intended.
Our healthcare planning and construction experience includes:
- medical facilities that cater to different levels of care,
- specialist clinics and university hospitals,
- outpatient healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes.
Education and Research
Creating optimum conditions for curiosity
University buildings and modern research labs that offer the best development potential are a top priority at HWP.
In 50 years of successful work for national and international clients, we have developed our expertise in the education and research field. Our service spectrum ranges from the adaptation of existing facilities and research centres to the conception of university complexes. Such projects benefit from our unique interdisciplinary approach. We combine profound knowledge of education and learning concepts with business and project management know-how.
We offer particular education and research expertise in the planning and construction of:
- educational facilities
- research facilities
- communal facilities such as lecture halls, accommodation, administrative buildings, and buildings for technical requirements such as industrial heating or sprinkler systems.
When large investments are made – and little time is provided
It’s the “here and now” that counts. Industry reacts extremely quickly to new research and market expectations. This is especially true for high-tech and pharmaceutical companies, who are key HWP clients. These projects require high levels of investment, therefore careful cost management is essential in order not to compromise quality.
Using Revit and BIM tools, we can work on complex production plants, administration and infrastructure facilities to very tight timeframes for both planning and construction phases. The result is a large number of successful industrial buildings which we have constructed as a whole or in part for our clients in Germany, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Our Industry planning and construction expertise include:
- Biotechnology and
When everything needs to flow smoothly
Everyone who works in Logistics wants to ensure the smooth flow of materials and end product. The logistical rationalisation of material flows is of course influenced by numerous complex and interrelated factors. However, we have specialist engineers in-house who can design and construct the ideal Logistics building, including warehouses or the upgrade of existing logistic centres.
Our specialist logistics engineers are constantly future proofing every detail, especially with the fast-moving evolution of new technology and processes. Combined with reliable project management, we not only ensure the design is state of the art, but construction on site is smoothly executed and delivered on time and budget. We can proudly state that this in one of our key strengths.
We have particular expertise in the field of logistics in the planning and construction of:
- logistics centres
- long-span and high-rise warehouses in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry
- automated warehouses for beverage logistics.
Administration and Services
When people are the focus
Office buildings for industry, service providers, hospitals, authorities and public facilities have one thing in common: people work and communicate here. In order for them to enjoy doing so and, ultimately, to do so efficiently, the best working conditions must be created within the building. After all, health and well-being at work are closely related to motivation, creativity and productivity. We take this into account right from the planning stage.
Our interior designers and experts for operational planning create a positive working environment and combine the corporate culture of our clients with an economical utilisation of the space available with state-of-the-art and modern technical equipment and innovative energy concepts.
We have particular expertise in the planning and construction of office and administration buildings for both private and public sectors.
What Moves Us
With an eye to the future!
We can only make clear decisions if we have a clear idea of what the future holds. Our experts continuously search for answers to questions of our time. We provide a creative space where everyone can ask challenging questions and through the collaboration of our teams, clients and experts, work together towards finding intelligent solutions.
BIM – the digital version of reality
In 2006 HWP was one of the first planning companies in Germany to introduce BIM (Building Information Modeling) as an innovative planning approach. Since then, we have been applying this successful method to complex construction projects, enabling our clients to digitally experience the future building in all dimensions, even before construction begins, thanks to virtual reality.
The advantages for the client are numerous: Collisions, for example between pipes, can be reliably identified. Fatal planning errors, which are associated with prolonged construction and higher planning costs, are avoided at an early stage. Digital planning thus enables a more precise cost calculation and ensures maximum planning reliability.
Our healthcare specialists have developed robust consulting and planning solutions related to an increasingly ageing population, which is a global trend known as ‘Silver Society’. Tools such as ‘best point of practice’ and ‘best point of service’ are used to frame our method of answering many increasingly complex issues related to old age. For instance, how should one design healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, clinics and care homes, with an increasing number of patients with dementia and handicapped mobility?
Digitalization and Connectivity
Digital communication technologies and the new way of networking are changing all areas of our lives significantly.
They are revolutionizing almost all industries and are creating new patterns of living and working. Therefore connectivity is regarded as the most powerful megatrend of our time.
In order to take advantage of this powerful change, we rely on our interdisciplinary consulting spectrum and enable our clients to gain a comprehensive, systemic understanding of this digital transformation.
New perspectives bring new challenges. Particularly in times of global change, we are aware of our key role in terms of far-reaching responsibility towards our clients, our employees, the environment and society.
The goal of our planning work is to advise each client in such a way that each project can be solved sustainably, taking into account the individual conditions within the project. In doing so, we are guided by the guidelines from the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e.V.):
- Ecological Quality
- Economical Quality
- Socio-cultural and Functional Quality
- Technical / Technological Quality
- Site-Specific Quality
- Process-Specific Quality
Healthcare Architecture und Evidence-based Design
Hospitals are much more than a structural shell for clinical and nursing processes. Rather, the experienced environment contributes significantly to the physical and mental well-being of individuals and also influences their health.
Our specialised interior designers use this holistic approach and focus specifically on good design: the effect of light, colours, materials and the environment ensures a feeling of well-being for future users. This brings forth a faster recovery or productivity in everyday hospital life.
We would like to express our sincere THANKS to our clients for their excellent cooperation.
